JUDICIAL POLICE HEADQUARTERS BUILDING
PROESTRUTURA designers assign the rehabilitation and reformulation of the former building of the ex-EMPA, in order to receive the Judicial Police Headquarters in Cape Verde. Located in Achada Grande, near Cidade da Praia, the building complex was built in a lot-site of 1279m2. PROESTRUTURA technicians developed the building complex from the beginning, giving all the necessary consultancy services to the local authorities, based on their previous experience in the design and the construction of Police and Judicial buildings and facilities. This building was developed in a trident shape (“Y” plan) and is composed by 3 floors above ground level and the total construction area is 2300m2. The building complex is the housing of Criminal Investigation Services, Forensic Laboratory and other Administrative Support areas. The building presents a modern image. The façade shows, on the ground floor level, a base clad of brown regional stone. The façade on the upper floors is coated by white painted stripes, all over the façade, torn by raw aluminum windows frames. It also features plain roofs, which in the first and second floors form large balconies. General coverage of the building complex is also flat, forming a terrace. The exterior landscape design, emphasize all the workspace and also contains a car parking area on the surface. The entire complex is under various types of electronic surveillance all over the 24 hours day time. The perimeter is protected by walls and railings. The Police Headquarters Building was also designed to allow a future expansion inside the perimeter area, within the future needs and priorities defined by local authorities.
